Growing up, I’d throw rocks at the beach and didn’t really think much about them. My Grandma and Granddad introduced me to an entirely new world, even though I wasn’t ready. It wasn’t much at first, but in 2023 a quick trip to the local rock shop changed everything. My life was soon full of not only kids, sports events and being a mom taxi, but also wrapped up in wire, pliers, and a few rocks.

This is me! I’ve done many things since I earned my DD-214 from the Navy, but I think this is a lot of fun! I’m always amazed that the Earth is made up of so many different kinds of rocks – color, hardness, shape and feel. I enjoy looking at a material and letting it tell its story. Some look like flowers, birds, even paintings… and some are glass, petrified wood, fossils and bone. Whidbey Island is often referred to as The Rock so it seemed perfect to use it in the name!

Rocks tell a story about the history of our planet and its inhabitants. By shaping a stone I am, in a way, reshaping history and providing my own timeline.

The left shows a small display of some of my work, including rocks I’ve polished myself, as well as pendants and earrings I have wire wrapped. Please note that each piece is unique and availability will vary.

I’ve also made things like Christmas ornaments, wire bookmarks, bolo ties, belt buckles, and I hope to continue to add to my collection of lapidary and wire art.
